Ox and cart ploughing the field.

Garry McGivern’s South Asia bike-ride, India, Thursday, 13th-October-2016. In Dhule. I debated with myself last night whether I should leave today. But seeing as I’m only feeling okay when I’m not doing anything, and the moment I do anything, I get short of breath and all hot and sweaty again! I think it may be wise to stay put for another day or two, as the next town where I would get a hospital is 160 miles away.

I’ve been having a couple of issues with the internet. So the hotel owner’s son Deepam (who’s been looking after me since I’ve been here and who I thought was the hotel manager) came to my room and sorted it all out for me. And put me onto the hotel’s wifi rather than the public one. After sorting out the internet for me, Deepam stayed for a good hour or two, chatting with me.

Deepam said that “The Hotel Ganapati Palace” used to be on the main road that ran through the town and was always busy. But now there’s a bypass around town not so many people come anymore! I had a nice conversation with Deepam. He has really good English, so talking with him was easy. It’s just like being at my very own “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”!

I went for a little walk this afternoon, only around the block, just to see how I felt and to get a change of scenery. It’s getting pretty boring being in the same place for so long. Although I am still spending a lot of time sleeping, and now that Deepam has fixed the internet for me, I can bore you all with my blogs and videos!

There’s not really a lot to see around here, just the usual little shops carrying out their business.

Travelsonabike2 India Wednesday 12th-October-2016

Street in Dhule.

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in India on Wednesday, 12th-October-2016. Dhule. After sleeping on and off for most of the day yesterday. I felt a bit better in the evening and ventured down to the restaurant. When I arrived, I was greeted by about five men. They were all celebrating some festival that I’d heard going on earlier. And they all, in turn, greeted me with closed hands, bowed down, touched my knee and foot, then gave me a small leaf, which symbolised togetherness apparently!

Decided that it’s probably best to stay put for another day at least, as I’m still feeling pretty weak!

Not really anything to report today. Still not feeling brilliant and spent nearly all day in my room, luckily I’ve found one channel on the TV that’s in English, and it’s actually a good channel as it’s about things I like, food and travel!
