Bike-Ride to Australia 10th-May-2012

Garry McGivern’s bike-ride to Australia Thursday 10th-May-2012. In Brisbane. I put the bike in for its service first thing this morning. Then it was off to the ABC studios for a radio interview. Zoe had emailed the station, wondering if they’d be interested in my story. They were. Phil Smith was interviewing me for his weekly show “The Sunday Spin,” which is broadcast across Australia and South Asia.

ABC had just moved to new studios, which were rather plush. Zoe and I were met in reception by one of the girls from the show. And once we’d signed the visitor’s book, we were given our passes. The girl then took us through to the studio. It was daunting to sit in front of a huge microphone and all the different mixing machines around. It was a bit different to my last radio interview, which was for Wave FM. Just before I left the UK, that was recorded sitting outside in the sun! Phil soon put me at ease, and I think the interview went fairly well.

We met the rest of the family in town this evening and had a meal together, which was really nice.
