Bike-Ride to Australia 29th-January-2012

Bike-Ride to Australia Sunday 29th-January-2012 Udon Thani to Khon Kaen. 76 miles. Cold start this morning. It was already 22c by 7 am! Nice flat smooth ride along the main road today. It’s a bit like a motorway, except you’re allowed to cycle on it. The hard shoulder is like having my own lane! I made good progress along the smooth road, and I’d reached Khon Kaen by three. I struggled to find a hotel again today. I’ve not sussed the signs out yet.

It’s starting to get quite hot now. So it’s nice to find a hotel and finish early to get out of the sun. Because my course is south, the sun is directly overhead and doesn’t cast much of a shadow. I drink so much water, yet I’m permanently thirsty! I’m still not feeling that brilliant from having the shits the other day, and think I might have a slight temperature!

Metal roof tops
View from my hotel. Interesting corrugated metal roofs

The dogs are also a bit more aggressive here, and they’re back to chasing me! (the first time since leaving Europe) Maybe that’s how I managed to finish so early!

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride, which is to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate.
