Travelsonabike2 March-April 2009 Tour Map

Map of Morocco

March-April 2009 bicycle tour map from Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2. The map shows where Garry spent each night of his bicycle tour around Morocco. Behind each pin is a brief description of the day’s ride, along with the miles cycled for the day.

It’s March 2009, and Garry wants to be a bit more adventurous and tour somewhere other than Europe! But not wanting to fly with his bike (he was worried it would get lost or damaged), where could he go? With a bit of thought and the aid of a world map, Garry came up with Morocco. After all, it wasn’t in Europe, and he could get there without flying!

Garry caught the ferry to Spain and, with a combination of trains and cycling, reached Algeciras five days later. His last stop in Europe before getting the boat to Morocco, and the real start of his adventure!

After Garry’s first long-distance cycle ride, he found out that he had a real passion for long-distance cycling and cycle touring and decided to go on another. It was late autumn, and Garry was wondering where he could go that wasn’t too far away and the weather would still be good! Still not having the confidence to take his bike on an aeroplane, Garry decided to get the ferry to Spain and bicycle tour there.

Travelsonabike2 July 2008 Tour Map

Map of France

July 2008 bicycle tour map from Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2. The map shows where Garry spent each night of his ride From England to Paris. Behind each pin is a brief description of the day’s ride, along with the miles cycled for the day.

It’s mid-July, and Garry has only been home for a week after his first long-distance bike ride from Bilbao to Bognor. But he was already missing being on the road and started to get itchy feet! Not having a lot of time due to work commitments, Garry wondered where to cycle to that wasn’t too far away and was achievable over a weekend! Remembering his time in France and how much he had enjoyed it, Garry decided to go on a bicycle tour to Paris, then cycle home again afterwards!

After making his mind up where he was going to go. Garry booked the first available crossing to France; it was a night crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre.
