YouTube Video Sunday 14th-June-2020

Man and bike by tree

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 YouTube video on Sunday, 14th-June-2020. Another YouTube/Flickr video.

It’s May 2010, and Garry has had a few health issues (nothing new there!) that have stopped him from travelling! But he’s had enough now and is heading off with a pannier full of painkillers! This time, he’s off to Italy. But to get there, he’s firstly cycling to Amsterdam!

After cycling through France and Belgium, Garry reached the Netherlands. Where he caught the train to Munich. Garry spent the day in Munich before getting his final train to Venice, where he would start his bicycle tour of Italy. And hope his painkillers will last long enough to get him around Italy!

YouTube Video 7th-June-2020

Windmill

Garry McGivern’s YouTube video on 7th-June-2020. Another YouTube/Flickr video, this time it’s Garry’s first tour of Portugal in August 2009.

Garry’s bike was already in Portugal after leaving it there back in April. He’d just completed his tour of Morocco and was planning to cycle home via Spain and Portugal. Unfortunately, after crossing into Spain, Garry noticed a cracked rear hub/wheel! Not feeling very confident cycling with a broken wheel, Garry decided to leave his bike at a friend’s villa in Portugal. Fly home with the rear wheel/hub, get it repaired, and fly straight back!

Unfortunately, Garry didn’t fly back straight away, or maybe I should say he couldn’t! And it took four more months before Garry was able to return! But he’s now back and ready to cycle Portugal.

YouTube Video 3rd-June-2020

Man with funny face

Garry McGivern’s YouTube video from the 3rd-June-2020. Another YouTube video born out of the Covid-19 lockdown.

With lockdown continuing for barbers and hairdressers for a least another month! Garry’s taken things into his own hands.

With his hair starting to resemble something that wouldn’t have looked out of place in the 80s, Garry decided to cut it himself. So it’s goodbye mullet, hello Covid cut. Although it ended up a little shorter than he had intended! In fact, Garry’s granddaughter Indya, who’s only 8 months old, has more hair than Garry and teeth for that matter! #ClumsyGarry

You can watch the video below or on Garry’s YouTube channel. But honestly, it won’t be any more enjoyable wherever you watch the video! You can also subscribe to his channel. YouTube Video 1st-June-2020

Hotel entrance

Garry McGivern’s YouTube video on 1st-June-2020. Even though the lockdown has now been eased. Garry still has a few more YouTube/Flickr videos to publish. Sorry!!

It’s March 2009, and Garry wants to be a bit more adventurous and tour somewhere other than Europe! But not wanting to fly with his bike (he was worried it would get lost or damaged). Where could he go?

After a bit of thought and with the aid of a world map, he came up with Morocco. After all, it was only at the bottom of Spain! And he had already cycled there the previous year.

Wanting to reach Morocco as quickly as possible, without flying! He caught a ferry to Spain. Once in Spain, Garry used a combination of trains and cycling to reach Algeciras. There he boarded the boat to Tangier, where his tour of Morocco would begin.

Read more about the tour on the Moroccan tour page.
