Shoreham-by-Sea to Brighton Cycle Ride

The cycle ride from Shoreham-by-Sea to Brighton which was taken on my ride to Brighton on Valentines day last month and forms part of the Sustrans national cycle route 2 although I didn’t stick to the recommended route as it goes all around the houses, I just went down the main road for part of it!

It’s a popular ride and one that I’ve done many times with Julie as it is mainly off road.

The crossing forms part of the national cycle route 2 which when it’s complete will run along the south coast of England, from Dover in Kent to St Austell in Cornwall.Pink ferry

Battle of Britain memorial flypast

To mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain victory a Battle of Britain memorial flypast had been organised at the Goodwood Aerodrome.

40 Spitfires, Hurricanes and Blenheims were assembled at the Aerodrome; they came from across Europe and the USA to take part in a historic flypast over the South of England.

The event brought together in one place more Battle of Britain aircraft than at any time since World War Two.

Here are a few that flew over me.

Spirit FM Local Hero Awards

The Spirit FM Local Hero Awards are an annual event held to honour local people for various achievements in all walks of life. Back in 2012, Garry was lucky enough to receive one of these for his charity cycle ride around the world.

Unfortunately, Garry was unable to collect the award himself as he was still cycling in China.  On the final leg of his world tour. The award ceremony was held the month before he returned to England. So it was up to Garry’s daughter, Vicky, to receive the award on his behalf.

The Managing director of Spirit FM, Sally Austin, did, however, come to the welcome home party and present Garry with his award.
