8th September 2022 Garry McGivern’s Europe-2022 bicycle-tour video; episode-14. Paris to Les Mureaux. Garry leaves the campsite in Paris and heads straight out of the city. Usually, he’d take a few photos of the sights of Paris, but his anaemia is making him very lethargic, or that’s what he’s blaming.
Instead of heading back to the Seine, Garry decides to miss out on a big arc in the river and cut across town. He then remembers why he was sticking as close to the river as possible. To avoid the sort of hill, he found himself going up. It’s tough going, and Garry is pretty breathless by the time he reaches the top. But at least he has a nice downhill to look forward to, and it’s not long before Garry finds himself back along the banks of the Seine.
As he cycles along, he weighs up his options for getting home. He passes a sign for the “Avenue Verte”, which makes him wonder about heading up to Dieppe and getting a ferry home from there. Or he could stick to his plan and follow the Seine to Le Harve but then head up to Cherbourg and get that ferry. Decisions decisions! Whichever way Garry decides to go, it’s a short day today as he checks into a hotel after being unable to find any campsites.
