Winter 2025: Bicycle Touring Map
My bicycle tour map for my winter 2025 camping trip. Strictly speaking, this isn’t a tour, or not, as I class a bicycle tour. I always like to think of a tour as anything over 500 miles (800 kilometres). The map shows where I spent each night of my winter bike ride. Behind each pin is a brief description of the day’s ride and the miles cycled for the day.
On this trip, I was off to Bridgwater for a long-overdue service on my bike, Passepartout. And as usual, I used it as an excuse to go on a bike ride. I had intended to go a little further afield once my bike was serviced. But the campsite in Devon that I was going to head for was closed due to maintenance, so I returned to one of my regular campsites, which I knew was open.
Thinking I could find more campsites open other than my usual ones. I still planned on cycling further. Unfortunately, I soon learned that February isn’t the best month for camping. With very few sites open. Plus, there was the little problem of the weather. It was bitterly cold, and packing the tent away when frozen solid wasn’t easy. It took me several hours to get moving each morning.
