Bike-Ride to Australia-and-Beyond 2nd-July-2012

Garry McGivern’s bike-ride to Australia-and-beyond Monday, 2nd-July-2012. In New York City. That was the second night on the trot that I’ve not slept very well. I’m still in quite a bit of pain and just can’t seem to get comfortable!

I finished packing my bike away first thing, then it was on to sorting visas out for my next destination. While I was doing this, I received a phone call from the hospital asking me to go back and fill out some insurance forms! What a nightmare that was. Firstly I got on the wrong train, then when I found the right train I was going in the wrong direction. Maybe I’m still slightly concussed! It was all very confusing.

After eventually finding my way back to the Jersey City Medical Center, I then had to wait around for an hour or so to be seen. Then when somebody did see me, they didn’t know what form I needed to fill in. But they eventually got there, and I filled out their form.

Finding my way back to New York was a lot easier, although the day had gone by the time I got back to the hotel.

I actually managed to find somewhere that serves fresh vegetables tonight, and it wasn’t expensive! Typical, I’m nearly at the end of my time in America, and I manage to find fresh veg for the first time!

Please Donate

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the world of this cruel disease.
