A return trip to Portugal for Garry to collect his bike after he abandoned it here earlier in the year!
It was April and Garry had just cycled round Morocco. After cycling around Morocco, Garry decided that he was going to cycle back home via Portugal! But shortly after crossing into Spain, Garry noticed a cracked rear hub!
Not feeling very confident with a cracked rear hub and the fact that Garry didn’t have enough time to cycle back to England he decided to leave his bike in Portugal! And just fly home with the rear wheel! (This was a time before Garry had the confidence to fly with his bike!) And by leaving the bike here would make sure that he had to return!
Garry had intended to come back a lot sooner! But after a little accident that left him in plaster with a fractured wrist for eight weeks meant he was unable to ride his bike!
After recovering from his fractured wrist, Garry took the first opportunity to get a flight back to Portugal to retrieve his bike, which had been at a friend’s villa.
Once Garry was reunited with his bike he then started to make his way from his friend’s villa in Loule near Faro.
Leaving Loule Garry followed the coast up and around Portugal to the small town of Caminha. In Caminha Garry caught the ferry across the river Minho into Spain.
Once in Spain, Garry made his way up to Santiago de Compostela.
After leaving Santiago Garry headed for the north coast of Spain where he once again followed the coastline to Bilbao where he caught a ferry back to England.
