Somerset Bicycle Tour

june 2017

Garry’s second outing of the year was a trip to Somerset for a much-needed service on his bike Passepartout. Garry was going to get it serviced after returning from his tour of India and Nepal at the end of last year, but after realising that he was just 130 miles short of the 50,000-mile mark, Garry decided to wait.

Garry passed the 50,000-mile mark at the end of last year but hadn’t had enough time until now to go to Bridgwater which is where Garry brought the bike back in 2008. From St John Street Cycles which is where Garry has always taken it for a service every 5,000 miles or so.

Rather than drive the 260-mile round trip, it gave Garry a good excuse to go on tour!

It was a relatively short ride to Bridgwater, and Garry was there on the second day. After spending the night at a campsite, just outside Bridgwater Garry left his tent and gear and cycled to St John Street cycles with Passepartout. After the service was complete, Garry went back to the campsite for one more night before setting off home the following morning.

It certainly wasn’t the longest tour Garry has ever done as he was only away for five nights, but no matter how long a tour is Garry always enjoys being on the road and travelling!

Total miles covered 311.
