Bike-Ride to Australia 7th-April-2012

Bike-Ride to Australia Saturday 7th-April-2012. Ceduna to Poochera. 89 miles. After spending all day in the motel room yesterday, it was nice to be outside again. It’s still a bit windy but nowhere near as bad as yesterday.

Sunset
Sunset on the Nullarbor. I didn’t take any photos today

The roads have seemed very quiet today, maybe because it’s the Easter weekend. Even though I’m now out of the Nullarbor, I can’t say the landscape has got any more exciting! But at least the roads are not as straight now!

It was nice having a phone signal for a day or so. But it soon disappeared fifteen miles out of Ceduna! I wonder how many days without a signal this time?

End Of The World

I had a bit of a disaster tonight when I went to get some clean clothes out of my pannier. A can of beer that I hadn’t managed to drink last night had burst and gone over everything. I smell like a brewery now, but at least I can suck my t-shirt when I go to bed!

I went to the local pub tonight, which doubled up as the hotel, restaurant and campsite. I got talking to a couple of old boys who told me that this time last year, there were well over a hundred people living in the town. But now there’s only about forty! I think they must have all been in the bar tonight. It was very busy.

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride, which is to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate.
