Bike-Ride to Australia-and-Beyond 7th-July-2012

Garry McGivern’s bike-ride to Australia-and-beyond, Saturday, 7th-July-2012. In New York City. It’s my last day in New York. I fly out this evening. Linda and Eva also head back to California. I spent this morning packing and taping up the bike box. I don’t want anything falling out. Then we all went out for a Mexican lunch.

Linda and Eva’s flight left at five o’clock and mine a few hours later. There wasn’t any time to do anything this afternoon. So we just got a taxi to the airport and had a drink in one of the airport bars. After Linda and Eva left, I checked my bike and bag in without any difficulties and hung around the airport waiting for my flight.

America has been a big surprise to me. Firstly I wasn’t ever going to come here. But then, when I had, I was surprised by the country’s beauty. Every state is different. And it was like crossing into another country. And what an excellent finish to the American leg of my ride, having the company and being able to play the tourist with two lovely ladies, even though Eva could never understand me and had to keep asking Linda what I’d said! Thank you, Eva and Linda, for your company. Both at the start of my American ride and the finish.

Next stop, who knows???

Please Donate

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the world of this cruel disease.
