St-Richards-Hospital 24th July 2021. Surgery lasted longer than I thought yesterday. And I came around in a lot of pain! But thankfully they soon managed to get it under control. And I was returned back to my ward.
The operation itself involved opening me up once again. Removing the ball of the hip. Giving whole area a good clean out of any infection. And taking samples to send of to the lab, so they can see what bug it is! Then obviously replacing the ball and stitch me back up.
I had the best nights sleep in weeks last night, despite all the thunder and lightning that was around. And woke up this morning without any pain!
Well I never did meet that doctor who changed all my meds! But I did however meet the pharmacist. Unfortunately I probably wasn’t that polite at first! After barking at her “did you change my medication?”
“Not me” she replied “it’s the doctors that do that, I just dispense the drugs”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to shout. But I’ve been in so much pain, and all because of some doctor who thinks they know better!” I said.
“No problem, I’m here to see what you normally take, and will put it in capital, shouty letters for the doctor to see!” She said.
I’m now getting my regular meds. And surprisingly my pain level has gone right down!
Got the results back from the laboratory late this evening. And it is the same bug as three years ago! But they’ve still got to find out the strain, I think!
How does that happen? After all, I had MRI after MRI and blood test after blood test, after my last episode. And they all came back clear! I’m just glad they’ve found what the infection is so quickly this time!
This post is too near the bone for me. It’s like shingles; it can lie dormant for years and then break out.
Odd how something can stay dormant for years! And then something can just trigger it off!
Get back as soon as possible to normal life!
I want to see you in the saddle again. as I met you in Georgia/ Caucasus
András
Let’s hope so, that would be a great place to met again. As long as we don’t end up stopping the night in that brothel again! I’m still traumatised over the large lady that kept smacking my bum!!
Glad to hear your back again no one must want you above or below you are better than the cat he has only 9 lives you must have fifty .Take care and rest this time gave your body time to heal and keep the bikes out of sight. Good Luck and I know your a tough old boy so you will heal soon.
Thanks Edward, I’ve got too many people to pee off before I go anywhere!!
I think that’s the main reason for keeping me in hospital. To keep me away from the bike!
Glad things are getting better, look after yourself and wishing a speedy recovery
Thanks Glenn, things are definitely heading in the right direction.
