Garry McGivern’s cycling around the world, Sunday 12th-August-2012 Ganca to Kurdamir. 105 miles. I said goodbye to my night of luxury this morning. But not before I took full advantage of the buffet breakfast. I made sure I got my money’s worth there!
What a great day I managed to cover 107 miles in under seven hours! Okay, it’s been flat, and I’ve had a good tailwind. But in this heat, it still impressed me. I think it might be flat all the way to Baku now. That’ll be the kiss of death now I’ve said that! You watch.
It’s certainly been a lucky day for me after missing my turning and ending up on this route. I was happily bowling, making good progress. I just wasn’t paying any attention and cycled straight past my turning. But after looking at the map, it seems a better choice. The road I was going to take looks as if it might have been a lot more hilly. And in this forty-degree heat, it’s not funny.
