Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in Ireland on Sunday, 21st-July-2019. Ballina to Sligo. 38 Miles. Not wanting to dwell on the past, but a year ago to the day I was admitted into hospital in excruciating pain and the start of my battle with sepsis!
Now one year on, I’m not completely convinced I’m over it all, or maybe I am, it’s just I’m getting old!
Despite it being a pretty crap day weather wise, I’m just so grateful to still be here and to be able to tour on my bike! I am one lucky guy!
And I certainly wouldn’t have been here without all the doctors and nurses at St Richard’s hospital Chichester. And all my family and friends who gave me such support. I think it was probably worse for you! I was fine, I was away with the fairies on a ferry to Morocco!
Stopped early today in a hotel, no fun cycling in the wind and rain! Tomorrow looks a bit dodgy on the weather front, but after that it’s meant to be good!
Subscribe to my blog and follow me as I travel around on my bike. Plus, as a subscriber, you’ll be among the first to receive news and updates on future tours. And, of course, you can always follow me on social media: Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.
You can also follow my progress and see where I stop each night by visiting the Where’s Garry web page; there, you’ll find a map of the route I’ve taken so far.
Shame about the weather – It’s so hot here I had to have a siesta. Well, that’s amazing. You should be in the Guiness book of records he! he! I’ve been cycling for 70 years in Europe and the UK but I can’t match your record. With your mileage you could go round Ireland three times.
Best wishes – Malc.
That’s what I had to do yesterday, but mine was more to do with Guinness!!
Hope it’s not too hot for you today!
