July 2025 Cycle Touring Photos

Photos from my bicycle touring exploits around the world, which I’ve added to the website over the past month (April 2027). Photographs taken while cycling around the world on my bike that have appeared on the website over the past month. This month’s photos come from the USA, Ireland, Wales and England.

There’s no Flickr photo album this month; I’ve not been anywhere. I was recovering from last month’s ride around Kent. And then, of course, towards the end of the month, I ended up at the hospital. August isn’t looking too hopeful for cycling either. I’ve got to have a hip aspiration, and I’m unsure if I’m allowed to cycle afterwards.

You can also find photos on my social media channels: Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Pinterest, which you can view without subscribing. But if you already use social media, why not follow me as I travel around on my bike?

Life After Sepsis: Cycling Ireland, In Rush, No Rush In Rush | Travelsonabike2

Bicycle Touring Ireland: in Rush

Life after sepsis and back to bicycle touring, my latest update: cycling in Ireland, in Rush, County Dublin. No rush today, I’m still in Rush! I’m being lazy today and decided to stop for another day in Rush!

Apart from being lazy, the other reason is that the ferry I’m hoping to catch gets me into Holyhead at about 6 pm, and I don’t think there’s a campsite close by! Well, certainly not on the road I need to head out on, so I’ll have to check into a hotel for the night.

And when I had a brief look at hotels, they were very expensive on a Saturday night, but dropped right down on a Sunday.

Not done a lot today, I went down to the little harbour, and I mean little! Then just to the supermarket. Oh, one other thing, I actually checked and pumped my tyres up, now wasn’t I good!

Bicycle Touring Ireland: In Rush

Life after sepsis and back to bicycle touring, my latest update: cycling in Ireland, in Rush. Decided to stay put today, one to sort a ferry crossing out, two it’s still windy and three, take a break! These past few days have been hard going against that wind.

Castle
Castle in Balbriggan yesterday

On the first account, trying to book a ferry, what a nightmare! My preferred route of Dublin to Liverpool can’t be done! P&O ferries that operate the route don’t take cycles, because of health and safety!

Bloody health & safety and reality TV. The two things that have ruined this world!

France

Getting a ferry to France also seems a non-starter! I can get on the ferry from Dublin to Cherbourg, but I can’t get a cabin, and I don’t fancy an eighteen-hour crossing without one!

Guess who didn’t put any suncream on

I think what I’ll have to do is get the ferry to Holyhead and cycle home from there! No need to book, I don’t think!? As there are about four ferries a day! I’ll get to Dublin tomorrow and then decide, maybe!

My campsite is right on the beach in Rush

On the second count, it was good not to have to cycle against that wind. And it’s meant to change direction tomorrow. And thirdly, taking a break was good, even if I got bored and frustrated, especially when I couldn’t book the ferry that I wanted!

Life After Sepsis: Cycling Ireland, Newry To Rush | Travelsonabike2

Bicycle Touring Ireland: Newry to Rush

Life after sepsis and back to bicycle touring, my latest update: cycling in Ireland, Newry to Rush. 57 Miles. Another hard day’s ride, but at least I’ve managed to find a campsite tonight!

I was thinking of making it to Dublin, as it’s not that far away. But then I wanted to camp, I’ve had enough of hotels for a few days! Don’t get me wrong, I like to stop in hotels, it’s so easy! Just rock up, lock the bike up, quick shower, then off to the bar, it just all gets a bit expensive!

I know camping is a lot more work, but at least in the morning, I can leave nice and early, no waiting around for breakfast. Not that I have to have breakfast, but as I said the other day, it’s good value and sets you up for the day.

I also need to make a decision as to whether or not I’m going to get the ferry from Dublin or carry on to Rosslare, which is probably only about a two day cycle away! Apologies if there are no photos on this blog; I seem to be having technical issues!
