Tent and tarp

Cycling Europe, France: in Dannes

My latest bicycle touring update, cycling in Europe, France, in Dannes—another lazy day. I was all set to leave this morning and had packed everything away, all bar my tent, when it started to rain.

I ummed and ahhed for a bit as to what I should do. It was raining, but not that hard. But enough to get wet quickly, so I relented and looked at the weather forecast. Something I try not to do when away. Because if I followed the weather forecasts, I probably wouldn’t move at all. But when it’s already started to rain. And I’ve not left camp, it’s not a bad idea to look.

Not A Good Outlook

The forecast was for an 80% chance of rain until 10 am. And then 30% after that, which wasn’t so bad. But there was a strong northerly wind, with gusts over 30 mph, which I’d be cycling into. And with the thought of a few big hills today, I decided to take the easy option and stay put, such a fair-weather cyclist. At least staying put for the day, I avoided any more cuts.

At least I was able to get out and get some supplies in between the showers
