February 2026 Bicycle Touring Photos

Photos from my bicycle touring exploits around the world, which I’ve added to the website over the past month (February 2026). There are quite a lot of photos this month, as I’ve been updating some of my old posts and adding new photos. I always regarded myself as someone who took a lot of photos. But when I look back, one of my big regrets is that I never took more. But then it wasn’t as easy then as it is now.

Most of us have a good-quality camera in our pockets all the time these days. Back then, you had to carry a proper camera, which was always a phaff. Don’t get me wrong, I still carry a proper camera, but its use seems to get less and less on each trip. Anyway, this month’s photos come from bicycle tours in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Germany, France, China, Austria and England. I told you there was a lot.

There’s no Flickr photos this month, as the weather hasn’t been particularly good and my hip has been playing me up. But hopefully March should be a better month, and I’ll be back out and about on my bike.

You can also find photos on my social media channels: Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Pinterest, which you can view without subscribing. But if you already use social media, why not follow me as I travel around on my bike?

October 2025 Cycle Touring Photos

Photos from my bicycle touring exploits around the world, which I’ve added to the website over the past month (October 2025). Photographs that I’ve taken while travelling around on my bike that have appeared on the website over the past month. This month’s photos come from bike rides in Albania, Croatia, India, China and rides around southern England. There are quite a lot of photos this month. And even more in my Flickr photo album.

Photographs in the Flickr photo album are from my recent rides around southern England. Yes, rides I went down to Swanage twice. In fact, there is quite a bit of repetition of the campsites I visited. I have little time at the moment, and I have to fit any rides in between hospital appointments, hence I tend to visit the same campsites.

You can also find photos on my social media channels: Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Pinterest, which you can view without subscribing. But if you already use social media, why not follow me as I travel around on my bike?

Map of the World

World Bicycle Tour Map: Cycling Around The World

World bicycle tour map showing where Garry spent each night, as he cycled around the world in 2011/12. Twelve months, 23 countries and 22,000 miles sat in the saddle.

Garry’s original route was to cycle through France, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, China, Lao, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and then finally cycle across Australia to Brisbane. Unfortunately, as Garry was halfway across Turkey, the British Embassy in Iran was invaded by a crowd of Iranian protesters! And the British foreign office advised against all travel to Iran!

Unable to find another route, Garry decided to miss out on his journeys to Iran and Pakistan. Instead, he flew to India, where he would continue his journey East. You can find out more about this tour by visiting the World Bicycle Tour page.

Cycling The World: England, Gatwick To Felpham – The Finish | Travelsonabike2

Bicycle Touring The World: The Final Ride Home After Cycling 22,154 Miles

My final bicycle touring around the world update, cycling through England. Gatwick to Felpham. 51 miles. It wasn’t a particularly pleasant ride home from Gatwick; it rained the whole way.

I arrived at the Fox Inn, where I had departed just over twelve months ago. And was greeted by friends and family. All standing out in the rain. Once inside the pub, there were more friends and a surprise party. The bar was decorated with flags from around the world, photos from my trip, and some of my posts from my website, all around.

Inside The Pub

There was a lovely, big cake decorated with the names of the countries I’d cycled through, kindly donated by Cake Fayre of Chichester. A local cake shop. Spirit FM, my local radio station, were also there. They were there to present me with my local hero award, and my local newspaper, the Bognor Observer, was there to interview me.

Some of my friends had paid for food, which was served on the theme of dishes from around the world. It was really nice to see everybody, and hopefully, I got around to speaking to everyone. I spent the afternoon talking to everybody and drinking, of course, and then went for a curry in the evening.

I really, really enjoyed the surprise party. A big thank you to Vicky, Julie, Russ and Putney Mick for organising the party. And Adam and Sarah for all their help on the day, and all the fundraising that they’ve done in the Fox over the past year.

Thank You All

A big thanks to Steph, who has looked after the website and posted all my blogs for the past year. Thanks also to everybody who’s sent me messages of support and encouragement. They were always nice to receive and read.

Thanks for all the donations. I’ve reached and passed my target, not sure of the final amount, but it’s nearly £11,000 plus the $2350 from Australia.

Total mileage covered 22,154.

Roll on the next tour. Getting itchy feet already.
