April 2025 Bicycle Touring Photos

Photos from my bicycle touring exploits around the world, which I’ve added to the website over the past month (April 2025). Photographs that I’ve taken while travelling around on my bike that have appeared on the website over the past month.

This month’s photos come from Morocco, France, Spain, Australia, and my recent rides in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

It’s been a busy month with the camera. I’ve had a couple of rides out this month, and as always, I’ve had my camera on hand. My Flickr photo album reflects this. There are quite a lot of photos. Photographs in the Flickr album come from Dorset, the Isle of Purbeck, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and West Sussex.

You can also find photos on my social media channels: Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and Pinterest, which you can view without subscribing. But if you already subscribe to social media, why not give me a follow, and follow me as I travel around on my bike?

Bicycle Touring England: Langton Matravers To Brockenhurst | Travelsonabike2

Cycling England: Langton Matravers to Brockenhurst

My latest bicycle touring update, cycling in England, Langton Matravers to Brockenhurst. 47 miles. That blooming wind, it’s been a tough ride today. And we’ve ended up back where we were on Sunday, back in the New Forest.

You may remember from Sunday’s post that I was supposed to be heading for the Isle of Wight today. But the wind seems to have switched around to the East. Usually, the prevailing wind comes from the Southwest, which is why I tend to head in this direction. A headwind to get here, then a nice tailwind to blow me home. Not this time. And from what I can see, there’s going to be a strong easterly wind for the rest of the week.

I might go over to the island tomorrow. I’ll see how I feel in the morning. To be honest, by the time I’d reached Christchurch today, I’d had enough and dithered around wondering whether to go to the Isle of Wight or come here to Brockenhurst. I think I made the right choice. It was gone 4 o’clock by the time I’d finished setting up camp. I think had I gone to the island, it would have been a much longer day.

Cycling England: Brockenhurst to Langton Matravers

My latest bicycle touring update, cycling in England, Brockenhurst to Langton Matravers. 40 miles. Even though I’ve only cycled forty miles today, it still took most of the day.

It took a good couple of hours to cycle out of the New Forest. I seemed to stop every five minutes or so for one reason or another. Then, cycling along Bournemouth seafront. Despite it being flat and an easy ride. That also took nearly two hours. Personally, I think it was all the bikini-clad ladies on the beach! I couldn’t believe they were there. (It’s been warm, but not that warm.) I had to stop each time I saw one just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things!

Cycling up the Purbeck Hills to Swanage and then onto Tom’s Field at Langton Matravers (tonight’s campsite) wasn’t too bad. I always think the thought is worse than the deed. Although it is always a hard slog when it’s at the end of the day. Although not today, as we’ve only cycled forty miles.

Cycling England: Langton Matravers to Adgestone

My latest bicycle touring update: cycling England, Langton Matravers to Adgestone. 64 miles. I’m feeling tired today. I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night. Last night, all I could hear was some cow (the four-legged type). It was mooing all night. I don’t know what was up with it, whether it was trying to give birth or something. But it definitely sounded distressed. The chances are that I’m not going to get a lot of sleep tonight either. The weather forecast is for thunder and lightning!

Well, just for a change, I’m on the Isle of Wight! Although not at my usual campsite. Apart from liking the Isle of Wight. The other reason for returning is that my hip and leg are so bad at the moment that I don’t have the confidence to go too far. I’m just about okay if nothing goes wrong. But if I had a puncture or had to change a tyre. That would be a major event for me. I find putting the tent up is bad enough. But after saying all that, I’m still enjoying myself.

The ride today was a lot cooler. It’s been cloudy nearly all day, and the last few miles were in the rain! Luckily, it stopped just long enough for me to put the tent up, then the heavens just opened!

My eyes are still bad. I’m wondering now if I’ve got conjunctivitis. I’ll get them checked out at the doctor’s tomorrow, as I’m heading home for the night before setting off again on Monday.
