Brockenhurst To Brighstone | Bicycle Tour Video: Autumn 2025

Garry McGivern bicycle touring across hampshire and the Isle of Wight

Brockenhurst to Brighstone, England | Bicycle Tour Video

Take a look at my latest bicycle tour video, Brockenhurst to Brighstone, posted on my YouTube channel today. It’s the video version of the post I wrote on the 31st of October 2025 while on tour. Apologies for the rather dark start to the video. As in light, not dark, as in sinister. I hadn’t realised it was so bad. I was in the tent packing away my pannier. But it’s not for long, as I soon leave camp.

The New Forest is full of autumnal colours and puddles. I hadn’t realised how much rain must have fallen overnight. As I cycle through the New Forest, I bump into a familiar face. Out of the forest, I’m cycling on the busy roads heading for Lymington and the Isle of Wight ferry. But I have a change of mind and head for the quieter cycle route instead.

Once I’m on the Isle of Wight, it’s a tough ride; there’s a strong wind, which gets even harder as I change direction and have to cycle uphill directly into the wind. Luckily, it’s only a short ride across the island, and I’m soon at Grange Farm. I now have to battle the wind to put up my tent. Which, being on the cliff, isn’t exactly sheltered from the strong southerly wind. Will I survive the night?

You can watch the video below or on my YouTube channel. But to be honest, it won’t be any more enjoyable wherever you watch it! You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel. You’ll then be amongst the first to know when I release a new video.

Langton Matravers To Brockenhurst | Bicycle Tour Video

Langton Matravers to Brockenhurst, England | Bicycle Tour Video

Take a look at my latest Travelsonabike2 bicycle tour video, Langton Matravers to Brockenhurst, posted on my YouTube channel today. It’s the video version of the post I wrote on the 30th of October 2025 while on tour. After leaving my overnight stop at Tom’s Field, I continued up the hill to Corfe Castle.

After Corfe Castle, I took a different route to the Sandbanks ferry. Although I may not take that route again, it was rather hilly. But the hard ride was worth it with the view I had looking out over Poole Harbour. And the ride down the hill to the ferry was a freewheeling, fast ride. Cycling along Bournemouth seafront was windy, but at least it was behind me. Although I wasn’t impressed with the sand blowing onto my bike. Especially onto the chain.

Off the seafront, I encounter a closed road, but it works to my benefit, eventually. It doesn’t take long before I’m back in the New Forest amongst the ponies, and I’m soon at the campsite. Preparing for a rough night under canvas.

Bognor Regis To Brockenhurst | Bicycle Tour Video

Travelsonabike2 Video 25th January 2026 Train

Bognor Regis to Brockenhurst, England | Bicycle Tour Video

Take a look at my latest bicycle tour video, Bognor Regis to Brockenhurst, posted on my YouTube channel today. It’s the video version of the post I wrote on the 28th of October 2025 while on tour. After realising the camping season is coming to an end in a few days, I decided I needed to visit some of my regular campsites before they close for the season. As it’s a bit late, I decided to head for the Isle of Wight first. I would still have a fairly early finish then.

Unfortunately, the weather seemed to have other ideas. There seems to be a rather strong headwind. But I battle on along Fepham seafront, thinking that once I’m away from the coast, the wind will ease. It didn’t, and by the time I’d reached Chichester, I’d had enough and jumped on the train. But then, whilst on the train, I started to realise that, with the wind as strong as it is. It would end up being a long day after all. So I changed my mind and decided to abandon the Isle of Wight. And instead head for Long Meadow in the New Forest.

You can watch the video below or on my YouTube channel. But to be honest, it won’t be any more enjoyable wherever you watch it! You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel. You’ll then be amongst the first to know when I release a new video.

Bicycle Tour Video

Garry McGivern’s Travelsonabike2 YouTube bicycle tour video S25 E28 was posted on his YouTube channel a couple of days ago, on the 26th of October 2025. It’s the video version of the post Garry wrote on the 29th of September 2025 while on tour. Garry only came away yesterday, yet he’s already having a day off. In fairness to him, though, he did say he wasn’t going anywhere today when he left home. The campsite closes tomorrow, and Garry wants to make the most of being in the New Forest while he can. Well, that’s his excuse.

After popping into Brockenhurst to get his lunch, Garry returns to his tent to eat it, along with a treat from the local bakery. After lunch, Garry heads off for a ride in the woods. But he’s not there for long after worrying about the remainder of his lunch that he’d left in the tent. The ponies can be pretty aggressive and have been known to wreck tents in their quest for food.
