Thursday 12th July. Bognor Regis to Brockenhurst. 63 miles.

I decided on Monday that I was going to cycle to Paris! So onTuesday morning I got up at 3am, and was on the road by 3.30, I was off to Newhaven to catch the 9 o’clock ferry to Dieppe! But after about 10-miles I was in too much pain, and thought it was probably best not to go! So I turned around and headed for home!

Just as well I did go home! A; I didn’t have enough painkillers with me! B; I remembered how much I struggled on my last tour! C; the ferries were cancelled because of the loading and unloading ramp braking down! And D; I’d forgotten England were playing in the semi-final of the world cup!

After getting some more painkillers and watching England loose to Croatia, (even though we played really well) I decided to go away still but stay in England, and head down to the New Forest.

I’ve upped my medication and am now taking the stronger tablets, the ones that have some nasty side effects and also your not meant to drink with them! Well I’ve not had the side effects apart from feeling a bit light headed and I’m also enjoying a beer! They’ve also eased the pain a bit!

Nice ride down albeit a bit hard going and painful at times, especially going uphill that really hurt!

Not too sure what or where I’m going tomorrow, it’ll depend on whether or not I’m in pain!

  1. Your’re a bloody marvel – just to pop over to Paris just like that. Just to get to Newhaven would be a challenge for me. I am hoping to cycle round Langstone Harbour. Still, Brockenhurst is a nice place.

    1. I’m not that good as I didn’t make to Paris!
Enjoy you’re ride around Langston harbour, you’ll enjoy it.
