Travelsonabike2 Ireland Thursday 18th-July-2019

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in Ireland on Thursday, 18th-July-2019. Killarney to Ennis. 79 Miles. Maybe I should have stayed at camp today, this morning was rather wet, the showers kept coming in heavy and fast!

I could see the rain coming, but I’d wait to put my waterproofs until the last minute. Wait for it, wait for it, wait, too late I was wet! I learnt after the first couple of times not to wait!

Looking back towards Killarney, before the showers came in.

Apart from the rain it’s not been a bad day and I’ve managed to get a few miles in. I saw a pod of dolphins when I was on the Tarbert to Killimer ferry, which was cool.

Staying at a hotel tonight, the nearest campsite I could see was another 20-miles away, and I certainly wasn’t up for that!

At least staying in a hotel gives me a chance to try some of the black stuff, the first on this trip. I must admit that it is going down rather well!

Cheers!

  1. A few miles,79! I should imagine flip-flops are ideal in the rain. What lovely countryside. I envy you that hotel. Perhaps you could get Guiness to sponsor you
I have an attack of shingles but I still cycle by the river Medina
    Best wishes – Malc.

    1. They are, no wet shoes or socks to worry about!
Guinness, Stella, Kronenbourg, anybody I’m not fussed! The Guinness definitely tastes a lot better over here, the only trouble with that is, it goes down a bit too well!
Hope your shingles aren’t too bad and your soon better. Well done for still cycling though.
