Bike-Ride to Australia-and-Beyond 28th-June-2012

Garry McGivern’s bike-ride to Australia-and-beyond Thursday, 28th-June-2012 Mcconnellsburg to York. 80 miles. I think I’m out of the Appellations now. This afternoon has been a lot flatter. I had one big climb first thing this morning, which was one of the reasons for stopping before my eighty miles yesterday. And then a few smaller ones, but it’s been fairly flat since Gettysburg.

I think I’ve only got about two hundred miles to go before reaching New York. But the roads are starting to get busier. And there are a lot more freeways, which is a real pain. It’s hard work finding a route that doesn’t end up on one.

I thought for one minute that I was in trouble again tonight. Luckily it was for something else and nothing to do with me. The police were at the motel when I arrived back after supper. I don’t know what was going on, but there was a few police there.

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the world of this cruel disease.
