Cycling England: Crowborough to Bognor Regis

My latest bicycle touring update: cycling in England, Crowborough to Bognor Regis. 54 miles. Thankfully, most of today’s ride has either been downhill or wind-assisted. I really don’t think that I could have managed a day of proper cycling. My hip is really playing me up now.

That’s the one good thing about staying in Crowborough (although it’s a hard slog to get there), there’s always a nice downhill the next morning. Crowborough is the second-highest point in East Sussex at 242 metres. And I enjoyed every minute of the ride down this morning. And then once I’d reached Brighton, there was a nice tailwind to blow me all the way home.

I’m Famous! Or Is That Infamous?

As I came through Littlehampton, I stopped to record a video for my YouTube channel. When I was passed by a couple of cyclists. Haha, they only recognised me. Lucky buggers, they were only on their way to Portsmouth to catch tonight’s ferry to St Malo. I wished them well and played tag with them all the way to Bognor Regis. Where we split, with me heading home and they on to Portsmouth.

It’s been an enjoyable few days despite the pain, which got so bad today that I resorted to taking some of my out-of-date oramorph (morphine). It’s sat in my bar bag since my last hip operation back in 2022, and seemed to do the trick. I’m hoping that a couple of days at home. I’ve got my granddaughter for a sleepover tomorrow night. And Monday I’ve got the hospital. But maybe after that I can head off somewhere. 267 miles cycled in the last week.
