Bicycle Touring England

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is bicycle touring England on Saturday, the 26th of April 2025. I’m still in Brighstone, but I had a ride out to Godshill. 24 miles. I woke up this morning with the full intention of leaving camp and heading home. But it doesn’t take much to stop me these days. The wind would have been against me cycling home today. Whereas tomorrow, it’ll be behind me. If I leave! I did actually get out on the bike today though, which is more than can be said about yesterday.

I needed to go to the shops today. So rather than use the excellent shop in the village (as good as it is, they don’t tend to have any of my favourite beers). I decided to go the long way to the shops and went via Godshill. And ended up in Newport. I wasn’t aiming for Newport. That’s just where I ended up.

Although after deciding to stay for another night on the island I had thought I’d go to Newport and meet up with my mate Malcolm. Unfortunately, Malcolm had bronchitis and wasn’t able to meet. But at least I found out that he was still alive; after all, he is 94 now. And after speaking to him on the phone, he still sounded as fit as ever. He’s probably fitter than me. Which isn’t hard!
