Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is bicycle touring in England on Sunday, the 17th-November-2024. Salisbury to Severn View Services. 65 miles. I’ve made it to the motorway services without having to cycle down the motorway.
I was up and on the road, nice and early this morning and on my way out of Salisbury before 6.30. Because it’s a Sunday and I was early, I stuck to the main road for the first few miles. I remembered the cycle route not being the best and thought it might be better to avoid in the dark.
Some Great Cycle Routes
I’ve had some great cycle routes today. One of them was the Bath Two Tunnel cycleway. That was great. One of the tunnels, the Combe Down Tunnel, was 1670 metres long. We could do with more of those. Unfortunately, the second tunnel, the Devonshire tunnel, was closed, so I had to go on a diversion down some little track, where I managed to fall off my bike. Luckily, nothing was broken, and I was okay. And even more luckily, nobody was around to witness it!

The Two Tunnel Cycleway ran along the old Bath to Bournemouth railway. It’s a great route, and it’s a circuit. (apart from when one of the tunnels is closed) they should do more of these cycleways. The Centurion Way near me stops at a tunnel. Hopefully, they’ll open that, too, one day.
After Bath, I found myself cycling on the Bristol to Bath Cycleway, which was another great route. All in all, it’s been a good day.
