Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is bicycle touring England on Sunday, 28th-January-2024. Chertsey to Waltham Cross. 39 miles. Early finish today. I was set up in camp by 3.30, which was just as well. The tent was soaking wet.
There was an unexpected frost last night; it got pretty chilly. Not that I was cold, but I could feel it. And probably could have done with wearing another layer. Maybe I’ll wear that extra layer tonight. And if I get too hot, I’ll just get annoyed and have to remove it. I always prefer being a little colder than being too hot.
Obviously, I’ve decided to stay out for another night. I did think about getting the train home today. But then I decided against it because I didn’t think there would be any running today. Being a Sunday, there’s usually some engineering work going on.
Sight Seeing
I could have come a more direct route to tonight’s campsite. But I decided to detour via Hampton Court Palace and central London. Hampton Court looked okay, but I couldn’t really see too much. London was good, and I came a completely different way to what I have in the past. Although it does get a little annoying constantly having to look at the phone to make sure I was on the right road.
As usual, I’m undecided about tomorrow. I’ll see what way the winds blowing in the morning.
