Cycling England: Sidcup to Crowborough
My latest bicycle touring update: cycling in England, Sidcup to Crowborough. 35 miles. I knew I wasn’t going to cycle far today. And I knew it was going to be a bit tough with plenty of hills. But I didn’t think it would take me all day. I definitely get worse and struggle more as the week goes on.
I was thinking, well, originally I was thinking that I might stop out for another night. But then I realised it was Friday and the campsites are likely to be busy. So, best head home. But after today’s effort, I’m not so sure. But tomorrow shouldn’t be as tough. Once I get down on the coast at Brighton, it’ll be a flat ride. And I think there might be a nice Easterly wind to blow me along. I’ll see tomorrow.

As I said, it’s been tough going today, cycling through the Kent Downs. Although the start of the day was following A roads. Mainly on cycle paths that ran beside. I wonder whether that’s what has made today such a hard ride. They weren’t the smoothest of routes, but are any in this country? In the past, I would have avoided them like the plague and cycled on the road. But I can’t hold a straight line these days, so it’s probably safer and better for everybody if I stick to the cycle paths.
