Travelsonabike2 England Tuesday 18th-June-2024

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is bicycle touring in England on Tuesday, the 18th-June-2024. Thame to Salisbury. 83 miles. Basically, today has been the same as yesterday. Twelve hours on the road. Ten hours cycling and walking.

I hadn’t intended on getting to Salisbury today and would have gladly stopped earlier had a campsite appeared. But one didn’t, well I lie; I did pass on at about 10 o’clock this morning. But because I didn’t have any beer with me, I continued on. And never anything. I passed a couple of sites that I reconned in years gone by were campsites. Now, they were just mobile home sites.

That’s the trouble in England, well, one of them anyway. Campsites are always few and far between, especially inland. And the few that there are are generally for caravans and motor homes. As they don’t have any facilities.

Well, I’m here in Salisbury now for the next three nights. My hospital appointment isn’t until late on Thursday. God knows what I’m going to do tomorrow. I’ll probably just sleep after the past couple of days.
