Cycling England: Canterbury to Sidcup
My latest bicycle touring update: cycling in England, Canterbury to Sidcup. 53 miles. That was a hot ride today, possibly made worse because I’ve spent much of the day cycling beside motorways. It’s not been the most scenic of rides.
I nearly stayed another night in Canterbury. I woke up in so much pain. Whether it was yesterday’s ride or I slept awkwardly, I don’t know. But thankfully, after half an hour, my painkillers kicked in, and I felt a lot better. Although I would have quite happily stayed. I had a lovely little spot in the trees away from everyone. Just what I like. Being the Mr Sociable that I am! I was reminded of the New Forest when I was woken by the dawn chorus.
As I said earlier, it’s not been the most exciting ride today. Cycling beside the motorways, and surprisingly, it was pretty hilly. I was glad to finish tonight. And arrive at my campsite. Mind you, putting the tent up was a real struggle and took an unbelievable amount of effort. I seem to have finished the day, as I started in a lot of pain.

Mind you, the pain was eased tonight by a few pints and a pizza at the campsite restaurant. Which was just as well. I don’t think I could have managed to cook. I’ve not cooked all week. I’ve been too worn out and have just been eating instant noodles, which I usually have for breakfast. So, something different tonight was a nice change.
Unfortunately, the above was all written while I was waiting for my pizza to arrive. It didn’t arrive. I was told eventually that the chef had gone home! Great noodles again. Had I known the restaurant would be closed, I would have brought something nice and easy to cook. Rather than have noodles again. I’m really not a happy bunny. I’m going to bed now. Hopefully, I’ll wake up in a better mood!
