Cycling England: in Bridgwater

My latest bicycle touring update: in Bridgwater. I know that you shouldn’t wish your life away, but I’m so glad today is over with. It’s been a long day.

I dropped Passepartout off at Thorn Cycles at 8.30 this morning. I then debated whether to head back to camp or stay in town. If I had gone back to camp, all I would have been doing was sitting around in the tent all day. There’s nothing around it apart from a housing estate. At least if I stayed in town, there was a little more to see.

That passed a couple of hours, and I was soon bored. I’d been in every shop that might have interested me and some that didn’t. I spent an hour or so in McDonald’s, mainly to charge my phone. I debated going into a pub. But knowing I’m not very good at supping a pint, I thought it would end in tears and gave that a miss. Instead, I had a couple of cups of coffee.

At Last

Finally, the phone rang to say my bike was ready, and I was able to pick it up. New tyres, new cables, brakes, chain set, oil change and a clean. It felt like a new bike again. I seem to spend more on getting my bike serviced than on my car and van combined. But then I do do more miles on my bike. It was good to get my bike back so I can get moving again tomorrow.
