Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in the UK on Friday, 29th-September-2023, in Brockenhurst. Well, I didn’t move today and have stayed put in Brockenhurst. I decided that as the site closes tomorrow (the 30th), I would spend another night. After all, it would be the last time until next year. However, it’s quite stressful here.
When in camp, or whenever you have a bike here, you have to make sure it’s well locked up; there are plenty of little scrotes (from outside) that want and will steal your bike. And even if you don’t have a bicycle and are just camping, you have to hide any food or remnants of food away. Because if you don’t, the ponies will route it out. I’ve seen the ponies break into tents in the past. It’s all rather stressful! But I still like it here.
I went out for a little ride today, mainly to the local supermarket, to get some coffee and beer! But most of the day has been spent in camp watching the ponies, squirrels and birds, and a small herd of cows wander through. I’ve also spent a lot of time talking to the few other people staying here for the last night. Although I’m pretty sure they only spoke to me because of my bike (Thorn) and my tent (Hilleberg).
All in all despite not going anywhere or doing much it’s been an enjoyable day.
