Cycling Benelux, Belgium: Arlon to Nassogne
My latest Low Countries bicycle tour update: cycling in Belgium, Arlon to Nassogne. I don’t know how many miles today, Google is keeping it a secret, but it won’t be many. The day didn’t get off to the best of starts after managing to cut my leg. Twice on my pedals. And that was before I left camp. I’m pretty sure that to anybody else it wouldn’t have cut them. But my skin is so thin, the slightest bash or scrape results in a cut or bruise.
So much for getting a few miles in today. I started well and headed down the main N4, which does go all the way to Brussels. But I wasn’t sure if I was allowed on it. So after ten miles, I came off it and took the quieter, hilly roads. Looking at the map tonight, it looks as though I could get back on the main road after Namur. Apparently, that’s when the hills disappear, and the terrain is flat.
It’s been a very windy day with frequent bouts of rain. And I’ve spent much of the day taking shelter. I have had my waterproofs on, but when there’s a hill, it just gets too hot, and I get wet from the inside. At least the rain held off while I pitched my tent. But it’s now pouring again.
