Cycling France: Tergnier to Attigny
My latest Low Countries bicycle tour update: cycling in France, Tergnier to Attigny. 69 miles. That’s a bit more like it. I was a little concerned when I stopped in Rethel, about 10 miles from here, and Google said that I’d only cycled 41 miles. Not that it matters. As I’ve always said, it doesn’t matter how many miles you cycle, whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. It’s all about enjoying it.
But it had felt like I’d cycled a lot more, which thankfully it was. I was beginning to think this cycle touring Malarkey isn’t for me anymore. Although after saying that, I had been stopping quite a lot, prating around, taking photos. Especially in the village of Grandlup-et-Fay, they had a sense of humour. There was a sheriff sitting on a bench with his horse tied up behind him (see my Instagram feed below for the photo), and as I left the village, a school classroom by the side of the road.

There’s been plenty of hills today. But thankfully, the ones I can cope with, long drawn-out hills. Not the short, sharp ones. I might even reach Luxembourg tomorrow if I don’t get lost and go the wrong way.
