Kazakhstan, Cycling The World 12th-September-2012

Garry McGivern’s cycling around the world, Wednesday, 12th-September-2012, in Aktobe. I was all ready to leave this morning and had even loaded up my bike. But then, just as I was about to check out, I decided to stay for one more day and just be lazy. I don’t know why. Although it may have had something to do with a cold wind!

There were a couple of things I wanted to do on my website. The wifi is excellent here in the Dastan hotel, which was one of the reasons for choosing a business-type hotel. So I spent much of the day in my room, making use of the internet. I only came out of my room for some lunch at lunchtime and then returned to my room.

Supper tonight was enjoyable. I sat with a Kazakhstan businessman from Almaty, who spoke impeccable English. I was even good and only had a brief flirt with Stella!

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the world of this cruel disease.
