Garry McGivern’s cycling around the world, Wednesday 15th-August-2012 in Baku, feeling much better today. I went for a ride to find the ferry port this morning. I need to get a boat across the Caspian sea to Kazakhstan. It took a long time, but I think I found it. They didn’t seem to want to know unless I had a visa, which is fine. Once I get my passport back tomorrow with the Kazak visa stamped in it, then I’ll worry.
Baku seems like a nice city, although it’s like one giant building site at the moment. They’re building everywhere! And there’s loads of dust around because of it! All the posh new hotels like the Hilton and Marriott that are near some of the building work are thick with dust! I bet they love that!
I sat in a café this afternoon watching a football match between Azerbaijan and Bahrain. It looked more like a Sunday league game rather than an international one. The stadium was so small, and as for the crowd, I think I could have counted them on two hands.
