Garry McGivern’s cycling around the world, Wednesday, 19th-September-2012, Zhangaqaza to Bayqongyr. 77 miles. And there was me thinking I had a nice room all to myself last night. After going out for something to eat, I returned to the guesthouse only to find I was now sharing my room with a short, tubby bloke! I think he was a sales rep from what I could make out.
Now I know I snore, but bloody hell old fatty could snore with the best of them. His snoring was so bad. I nearly threw a shoe at him at one point. And then, when he wasn’t snoring, I was being buzzed by a mosquito! Fatty was still asleep when I got up this morning, and of course, I was very quiet so as not to wake him, not!
I’ve found it hard going today, which I blame fatty for. It probably didn’t help that I never found anywhere to stop for a bite to eat until this afternoon. I was feeling very tired, and so were my legs. I’ve also got a bit of a sore throat. Which I think is because of all the dust in the air.
I met a French guy on a motorcycle this afternoon who had just ridden to Mongolia and was now on his way home. It was nice to stop and chat with him for a while. And to hear that the roads don’t get any better!
I’m camped on a beach tonight, or it feels like it. It’s very sandy. And I’m camped near where the Russian space agency launches rockets into space. It’ll be cool if they launch one tonight! Although I would probably sleep through it, I’m so tired.
