Bike-Ride to Australia 1st-February-2012

Bike-Ride to Australia Wednesday 1st-February-2012 Nakhon Ratchasima to Saraburi. 93 miles. I got talking to another Brit in the hotel bar last night. He was a chef from Bournemouth and was here visiting his Thai wife’s family. God, he was obnoxious! All he did was run the Thai people down, even though he’s married to one!? And he didn’t like the fact that he couldn’t find an English bar! I don’t know why people like him are here!

He did, however, explain that Karaoke bars are more like brothels! Especially in Bangkok! (apt name) Personally, I can’t abide Karaoke, so I won’t be visiting any of those bars! I just don’t understand why anybody would want to go and listen to somebody that can’t sing! He pointed out that the two girls singing in the hotel bar were probably prostitutes. And sure enough, they copped off with two random blokes!

I must admit that I probably wouldn’t have given it a second thought had he not said anything. But now he’d pointed it out. It was obvious! And although I wasn’t that keen on him, I was grateful that he told me they could have targeted me! Best be on my guard tonight when I go out!

It’s been scorching today. The sun is getting pretty intense. And I’ve still got a way to go before I cross the equator, so it’s only going to get more intense! It’s strange cycling along with the sun almost directly above me. In Europe, we’re more used to it being off to one side.

I met my first hills since arriving in Thailand. But compared to China and Laos, they were mere bumps in the road!
