Wednesday 28th March 2012 – Norseman to Fraser Range.

Norseman to Fraser Range. 65 miles.

What I was expecting to be a long hard day turned out to be the complete opposite! Still not too sure whether I got run down by one of those road trains and I’m in heaven! Bit of an exaggeration, but I came upon this really nice little campsite midway on my route today. I saw the sign about 25km back saying caravan site open, so I thought rather than have a long hard day I’d have two short days, if they took tents. There was also a bit of a headwind, so I wasn’t exactly flying along which meant I wouldn’t have got to the roadhouse at Balladonia until after dark. Luckily the caravan park took tents and what a gem of a find, really well kept grounds with some pet animals and a well stocked little shop that even sold beer!

The campsite is run by a couple from south Africa and it’s an old sheep shearing station. All the campsites seem to have camp kitchens, so you don’t really have to carry cooking stuff, they remind me of youth hostels back home except your in tents.
