Bike-Ride to Australia 28th-March-2012

Bike-Ride to Australia Wednesday 28th-March-2012 Norseman to Fraser Range. 65 miles. I think one of those road trains has knocked me off, and I’m in heaven! Either that or I’m dreaming.

I was flying along, with my head down. I wasn’t exactly flying that headwinds back, and I wasn’t making particularly good progress. And I was now starting to worry that I wouldn’t reach the roadhouse at Balladonia until really late. But then, out of nowhere came Fraser Range. I’d seen a sign 25km back, saying caravan site open and wondered if this was it. I also wondered if they took tents. There was only one way to find out. They did. It was like finding an oasis in the desert. Hold on. I am in the desert! And there was me thinking it was going to be a long day.

Traditionally Fraser Range was and still is a sheep shearing station. But the South African couple that run it now added the campsite. And what a little gem it is. There are some petting animals, and there’s a fully equipped camp kitchen. Had I known, I wouldn’t have bought my cooker! They even have a well-stocked shop that sells beer! I told you I thought I was in heaven!

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride, which is to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate.
