Where’s Garry Currently Cycling

Thanks for checking in on me. I’m currently at home recuperating after having my sixth hip operation. Which will hopefully be the last. All being well, I hope to be back on my bike in early July and possibly able to go away touring a few weeks later. That’s assuming my Myelopathy allows.

As you may know, my hip problems date back to 2018 when I contracted sepsis, and each time they operate, the infection seems to come back. Which, thankfully, the doctors have spotted before it leads to sepsis again. And so far this time things seem to be okay.

My Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy (DCM) dates back to May 2023, when I was first diagnosed. DCM is a serious condition that causes narrowing of the cervical spinal canal, leading to chronic spinal cord compression and resultant neurologic disability. And as this is a degenerative condition, I have to have regular hospital check-ups. Eventually, I’ll have to have an operation on my neck as well, but the timing of that is unknown.
