China, Cycling The World 7th-November-2012

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is in China, cycling around the world on Wednesday, 7th-November-2012. Lanzhou to Baiyin. 58 miles. No problems getting out of Lanzhou this morning. It was all pretty well signed.

Didn’t go on the freeway today. I was good and stuck to the main road instead, although I think I might go on there tomorrow. I feel a bit safer, and it’s a more direct route. It’s not twisting and turning all over the place, and strange as it sounds, I see a lot more when I’m cycling on the freeway. I’m not constantly watching out for potholes!

Not looking forward to the next couple of days! Looking at the maps, there just doesn’t seem to be any towns where there’s likely to be a hotel. I really don’t want to camp. It’s so cold now think I’d end up dying of hypothermia, and I really don’t want that.

Please Donate

Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the world of this cruel disease.

Follow me on social media: Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest. I’m also on Flickr, where my photos are released first at the end of each country I’ve just cycled through.

You can also follow my progress and see where I stop each night by visiting the Where’s Garry web page; there, you’ll find a map of the route I’ve taken so far.
