World Sepsis Day 2018

After recently recovering from severe sepsis shock, Garry McGivern is more than happy to promote World Sepsis Day 2018. I was one of the lucky ones. Luckily the nurses and doctors in St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, recognised the symptoms and placed me in an induced coma.

Unfortunately, not everybody will be as lucky as I was, which is why it’s important to Promote World Sepsis Day. World Sepsis Day occurs every year on the 13th of September.

Every 3.5 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 44,000 people lose their lives to sepsis every year. This is more than breast, bowel & prostate cancer combined. Today is World Sepsis Day. Please spread the symptoms of sepsis far and wide.

Travelsonabike2 July 2018 Tour Map

Map of southern England

July 2018 bicycle tour map from Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2. The map shows where Garry spent each night of his ride around southern England. Behind each pin is a brief description of the day’s ride, along with the miles cycled for the day.

There’s still no news or any sign of Garry getting his hip replacement! So, rather than sit around, Garry decided to go away on his bike for another tour around the south of England.

Initially, Garry was off to France! Unfortunately, after getting up early and starting to ride to Newhaven to catch the morning ferry, Garry ended up in too much pain and had to return home. After getting some stronger painkillers from the doctors, Garry once again set off but decided because of the way he was, it was probably best to stay in England.

You can find out more by visiting the England July 2018 tour page.

Odd Photos Taken In August-2018

Garry McGivern’s odd photos were taken in August-2018. Photographs this month have been taken by his daughter. Garry was in hospital in the intensive care unit. Where for a while, he was sedated. Fighting severe sepsis shock.

The photos show when Garry was sedated and the progress he made after being brought out of the coma. They also removed Garry’s hip and gave him a temporary one. The infection that had led to his sepsis had attached itself to his hip. And the doctors were worried that the infection may still be there. Hence a temporary hip.

You can also find photos on Garry’s Facebook and Instagram pages, which you can view without subscribing. But if you already subscribe to social media, why not follow Garry? To read the full stories behind the photos, visit the August 2018 archives page.
