Travelsonabike2 Sunday 19th-March-2023

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in the UK Sunday, 19th-March-2023. Edmonton to Bognor Regis. 28 miles. Surely Edmonton to Bognor is more than 28 miles? Yes, it is. After leaving camp this morning, I cycled into central London and had a bimble around some of the major attractions. Then caught the train home.

I was going to cycle home or rather cycle as far as Bilingshurst today. I’d found a pub that has a campsite and thought it would be a good end to the day. A few pints and a nice roast. Unfortunately, the pub closes at 4 pm on a Sunday. And there’s no way I would have got there before then. I then had the idea of cycling to the Fox and Goose in Greywell, another favourite campsite/pub of mine. They allow you to camp as long as you use the pub. Such a high price to pay!?! But after looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow and today, I decided to give it a miss. I’ll cycle there on another occasion.

It was good to see that the old trick of turning up late at a campsite and leaving early gives you a free night. I was late arriving at last night’s campsite, well late, it was only about 7 pm. But there was nobody to be found and no telephone number to call, so I just went and pitched my tent. And then this morning, when I left, there was also nobody around. Thank you very much. I’ll take that. If you can’t supply a number or have somebody around, I’ll take the free night.

I’m home now for at least two weeks as I’ve got hospital appointments coming up. But hopefully, once they’re out of the way, I think there are a couple of spare weeks before more appointments, so hopefully, I’ll get away then.
