Travelsonabike2 India Thursday 20th-October-2016

Hills near Nardana Maharashtra.

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in India on Thursday, 20th-October-2016. Dhule to Semdhwa. 68 miles. I was quite sad to leave the hotel Ganapati Palace this morning. Everybody had been so kind and helpful to me in my time of need. The warmth and kindness that was shown to a complete stranger is truly quite humbling and something I’ve experienced throughout the world. It’s one of the reasons that make travelling such a joy and why I do it!

In particular, Deepam and his family. Who took me under their wing, making sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed. They took me to the hospital for appointments. Picked up my prescriptions for me and let me stay at their hotel rather than letting me stay in the hospital and all for? Absolutely nothing, just sheer kindness. It is something that I will always cherish and remember. Thank you so much, Deepam, Pradeep Kalpana and all your lovely staff. I wish you well in the future; it was a pleasure meeting you all.

I was quite late leaving the hotel this morning. There was a problem with the card machine, and it wouldn’t accept any of my cards. So Deepam had to take me to an ATM to get some cash. After we’d finished faffing about, it was 10 o’clock, but I wasn’t overly worried as I knew I wouldn’t get away too early.

The actual cycling wasn’t too bad at all. Admittedly, I did get a bit short of breath when I had to go up a hill. And there was a long one this afternoon, but I just took my time and plodded up, even slower than I normally do!

I was fairly impressed with my mileage today and was okay to continue on further. But it was getting late, and the light was starting to go. I really didn’t fancy cycling in the dark!

Travelsonabike2 India Wednesday 19th-October-2016

Colourful market stall

Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in India on Wednesday, 19th-October-2016. Still in Dhule. I was thinking last night I should really leave my convalescent home in the next day or two as I need to get moving if I’m ever going to get to Kathmandu!

I feel fine in myself but still get a bit short of breath whenever I do anything, but then maybe that’ll take a long time to go, more time than I’ve got to wait here, so maybe I’ll just have to adapt to it and get on with it.

Indian food
Being brought out surprise food like this doesn’t help me leave! Peppers, paneer, tomatoes and onions

But on the other hand, I don’t want to start travelling again and then one or two days down the line to become ill again!

So I’ve decided to stay for one more day. Then, at least, I will have finished all my antibiotics! And if I’m not fit enough to cycle, I’ll just take it easy and make my way to Delhi and get a flight home!

Spent this morning down the market making some more boring videos; click to view them on YouTube; it keeps me occupied and out of trouble!

And to fill my time this afternoon I went for a haircut and also had another shave.

I’m looking forward to moving tomorrow although I am a little apprehensive about my chest getting bad again!
