Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 World tour map. The map shows where Garry spent each night of his twelve-month bike ride around the World, which took place in 2011/12. Behind each pin is a brief description of the day’s ride, along with the miles cycled for the day.
Garry’s original route was to cycle through France, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, China, Lao, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and then finally cycle across Australia to Brisbane. Unfortunately, as Garry was halfway across Turkey, the British Embassy in Iran was invaded by a crowd of Iranian protesters! And the British foreign office advised against all travel to Iran!
Unable to find another route, Garry decided to miss out on his journeys to Iran and Pakistan. Instead, he flew to India, where he would continue his journey East. You can find out more about this tour by visiting the World Bicycle Tour page.
