Cycling-The-World Video 20th-February 2012 unloading my bike from the Batam Jet in Indonesia. A video posted on my Flickr page, taken when I was in Indonesia, while on my way to Australia. This was before I decided to turn my ride to Australia into a world bicycle tour.
I’m in Indonesia, and after catching the ferry from Singapore yesterday, I have to catch another ferry today. The Batam Jet, which ran from Batam to Dumai. Unfortunately, the only place for my bike was on the roof.
This video shows the boat crew manhandling my fully loaded touring bike off the roof. I didn’t film the whole episode from start to finish, as I got too nervous and had to step in and help.

An updated version of this video was added many years later on my YouTube channel, which isn’t quite as basic! The newer version is a compilation of photos and videos taken on my ride through Indonesia. Click here to view.
Don’t forget the main reason behind my ride. I want to raise as much money for cancer research charities as possible. After my wife, Josie, died of breast cancer in 2007, aged only 42. Even the smallest donation helps. You can donate to Cancer Research UK or the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on either one to donate. Every little bit helps to rid the World of this cruel disease.
Follow me on social media: Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest. I’m also on Flickr, where my photos are released first at the end of each country I’ve just cycled through.
You can also follow my progress and see where I stop each night by visiting the Where’s Garry web page; there, you’ll find a map of the route I’ve taken so far.
