Garry McGivern Travelsonabike2 is cycle touring in the UK Tuesday, 4th-April-2023. Brockenhurst to Bognor Regis. 72 miles. After yesterday’s wind-assisted ride down to the New Forest. That same wind was against me coming home today. And I’d be lying if I said it was an easy ride. But it was still enjoyable and great to be out and about on my bike.
It was a frosty start to the day, with my bike and tent both white. But the frost soon went off in the warm April sun. Although the sun wasn’t up enough when I packed the tent away, and I packed it away covered in frost. When I unpacked it tonight, there were puddles of water coming out of the bag. No wonder I’ve found it hard going today.
It was good to be in the New Forest again, and yes, I know I was there a few weeks ago when I cycled to Christchurch. But I only passed through then. I might have mentioned this before, but there doesn’t seem to be as many ponies as there used to be. In years gone by, the ponies always used to walk through the campsite. Once in the evening, going to wherever they go to spend the night. And then again in the morning. But today, they were nowhere to be seen unless it was too cold for them.
I’ve got a few appointments coming up in the next couple of weeks. But hopefully, after that, I hope to be going away again.
