Garry McGivern’s Youtube Video, cycle touring; March 2023, episode 6, which was posted on his YouTube channel on the 25th-March-2023. It was recorded earlier this month, on the 17th of March. Garry starts the day off where he finished yesterday, cycling along the Kennet and Avon canal. It’s an interesting start to the day as he cycles up the Caen Hill Locks. It’s a steep climb on a slippery track for the final 16 locks up to Devizes.
After Devizes, Garry spends some much-appreciated time cycling on smooth roads away from the bumpy cycle path of the Avon and Kennet canal and doesn’t even mind the hills. After reaching the pretty market town of Marlborough, Garry finds himself cycling on another track. And by the time he leaves the track, his bike has doubled in weight, with all the mud stuck to it. Slight exaggeration, but it is rather muddy.
All the bumpy trails Garry has taken in the past few days have taken their toll as Garry starts to fall to bits! But Garry continues on and is keen to reach the campsite early to dry his gear out after two wet nights in a row. But Garry has a surprise in store as he reaches the campsite.
